I’ll be back on Sunday

Announcements

A lot of circumstances have led me to miss shows for the last couple of days. I was going to try and record one before I left for our Pack’s Fall Campout, but I think my time would be better served preping for the campout.

So I’m going to record a couple of shows on Sunday after I get back.

Sorry about the poor voice quality. It was a loud night and I’m just flat out tired. Exciting things will be coming later this week…

Bobcat Ceremony-”Badges of Cloth”:

B: stands for badges given today. What is a badge? A scrap of colored material is not nearly so important as the job that was done to earn it.
A: stands for Akela. Your family and leaders who have helped you earn your badge.
D: stands for Deeds. Good deeds to be done now and in the future for family, friends, and the community. Good deeds done with the knowledge and skills acquired through the badges.
G: stands for Growth. The Pack helps the Cub Scout grow.
E: stands for Eagerness and Energy. Both are necessary to earn badges. Badges do not come easily and they should not or their value would be small. Badges present challenges, difficulties, and satisfaction in accomplishment.
S: stands for Service. Service to others is one of our aims in life. Our badges help up to bring service to others.

Will the following Cub Scouts please come forward with your parents

These new Cub Scouts are being presented with their first badge as a Cub Scout – the Bobcat badge. To earn that rank, they had to learn the Cub Scout handshake, the Law of the Pack, the meaning of Webelos, the Cub Scout handshake, motto and salute.

I will present to you your son’s Bobcat badge and certificate as a Cub Scout, which I then ask you to present to your son. Please pin the bobcat badge to his left shirt pocket, upside down. Once he has done a good deed, you may turn it right side up.

The Cub Scout program will face you with many challenges.  You will be required to attend weekly den meetings and monthly pack meetings.  You will need to work with leaders and also at home with your parents.  In order to achieve the highest rank in Cub Scouting, you must now set your sights on the Arrow of Light. Many times you may get discouraged because the trail seems steep and hard to climb. But do not get discouraged Bobcat Scouts. Many have come before you and stood where you are right now. Those Scouts are now Boy Scouts, Eagle Scouts and even some of your parents. Would all who have earned their Bobcat Badge, please stand up.
