Scouts Help Andrews Retire Controversial Flag Aug 25, 2005 — A flag that garnered national attention because it supposedly flew over the Pentagon during the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, was burned Wednesday at the direction of its owner because of doubts about its authenticity.

Note: We don’t “burn” flags, we “retire” them during Scout ceremonies. Sorry, but it’s a pet peeve of mine.
