    CM Chris,

I just want to say thanks for the work you are doing for the scouting world. I found your podcast on a list and link to your website. I am an engineering tech by trade so I spend a few hours in front of a computer, so it was nice to listen to your podcast. I picked up a few things also.

Regarding the pinewood derby times for other people we have a super track. Our track is made of plastic and a standard time on it is 2.6-8 seconds. My son was the fastest in his den and the pack this year with a time of 2.48 seconds. He was 2 tenths of a second faster than most of the others in the pack. I HAVE NO IDEA WHY but he just had a fast car this year. We went to our district derby and it is an aluminium track. At that race you have all of the first place winners from the packs. I have no idea what a average time on that track would be but in the Wolf race my son took second place with a time of 2.998. First was around 2.994. The last car was 3.2. I hope this helps.

Could you tell me or give me a link on how to do a podcast. What do you use to record, edit, etc. I think it is a great tool for scouting and getting a message out and I would really like to try my hand at it.

Again, thank you for your information.

Hey Chris. In regards to Tigers and the Bobcat badge - I say it’s about time! I have 3 boys - 12 (2nd class Boy Scout), 8 (Wolf Scout), and 5 (desperate to be a Tiger in 2 years). My middle already had all the memorization done BEFORE he even was a Tiger, so I’m pretty sure we won’t be taxing them.

I was very glad they decided to allow the Tigers to wear the blue uniform last year , and now the Bobcat badge next year. I’ve always felt that the Tiger program as it was originally setup felt like it was “stuck on”. What I mean by that is that Tigers felt like they where playing a Cub Scouts, and Wolves felt like you where now a “real” Cub scout.

    Thanks for an interesting show!
