Some Carthage residents supported a young friend by donating blood Nov. 18.

As an eagle project for the Boy Scouts, Eddie Jones, a 16-year-old junior at Carthage High School, organized a blood drive at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

“He’s going to be very accomplished when he gets older,” said Jim Valenti, a friend helping Jones with the event. “He’s got a pure heart and a willing spirit. You can just look at him and know that he’ll go far.”
